  1. Coming Home - Jayne Schooler
    Transitioning your adopted child into your family can be challenging. This workshop will address how to blend your newly adopted children into your family and circle of friends.
  2. The Domestic Infant Adoption Experience/Professional and Parent Panel
    Considering infant adoption in the U.S.? We will feature professionals and adoptive parents who have successfully completed a domestic adoption of an infant.
  3. Life Experiences of the Adult Adoptee/Adult Adoptee Panel
    This diverse panel of adult adoptees, representing both international as well as domestic adoptions, will explore the unique issues of growing up as an adopted person.
  4. The Rewards and Challenges of Adopting Older or Special Needs Children
    Each year, many families choose to adopt an older or special needs child, or a sibling group. This workshop will present the realities of how these types of adoptions occur. Information will be available on local resources, support groups and subsidies.

  1. Managing the School Challenges: Strategies for Success - Jayne Schooler
    A recent research study conducted by the University of Illinois indicated that the greatest need for support voiced by adoptive parents was "anything that had to do with school adjustment". Learn strategies to navigate the educational needs of children.
  2. The International Adoption Experience/Professional & Parent Panel
    This panel of adoption professionals and parents will explain the process of adopting a child internationally. Families who have successfully completed an international adoption will share their stories.
  3. Grief and Loss: A Birthparent Perspective
    Placing a child for adoption has lifelong ramifications. This workshop will provide you with a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand the experience of adoption from the birthparent perspective.
  4. Cherished Memories: Creating a Lifebook
    This session will present the reasons why it is important to preserve a child's history and how to best accomplish this in a sensitive and caring manner.
